TRAUMA-INFORMED SUPERVISION (90 mins.)
Librarianship exists at the intersection of public service, education, and social work. It is not uncommon for library staff to experience primary or vicarious trauma over the course of their career. Library administrators and managers can better support staff in their service to the public through an understanding of trauma-informed supervision. This approach is key to fostering employees' well-being and professional development. Trauma-informed supervision is also critical to creating a culture of safety, trust, and collaboration.
Learning Objectives:
Define trauma and its causes
Understand trauma exposure responses within yourself and others
Identify principles of trauma-informed caring
Discuss how to manage your own emotional triggers and stress response
Explore practical strategies for supporting staff
COURAGEOUS COMMUNICATION (90 mins.)
In the workplace, it is normal and healthy to set boundaries around our time, offer feedback on important projects, and negotiate differing viewpoints. However, these interactions often set the stage for a crucial conversation. In this training, we'll explore strategies that will help you move from conflict to collaboration. Learn to lean into the discomfort of difficult conversations with greater self-awareness, curiosity, and compassion.

SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTIVITY (90 mins.)
If you find yourself anxious or overwhelmed by the demands of work, you are far from alone. In today's hustle culture, we are conditioned to believe that our self-worth is tied to the number of tasks we cross off our to-do list. In this workshop, we'll learn how to identify time stress and how it shows up in our thoughts and behavior. Next, instead of focusing on getting more done, we discuss strategies for getting the right things done. Finally, you'll learn an easy planning framework for integrating all these tools and tactics.

Shift your mindset from time scarcity to time abundance.
Explore strategies for prioritizing tasks so you can channel your time, energy, and attention into your most important work.
Identify time boundaries that support your wellness.
Learn a simple planning process for organizing your days and weeks for maximum impact.
LEADERSHIP BY DESIGN (90 mins.)
We all see the world through a unique set of lenses based on our beliefs, values, assumptions, and lived experiences. These lenses affect how we interpret information, make decisions, take action, and interact with others.
Energy Leadership™ is the ability to identify and consciously work with your unique set of lenses. This allows you to lead with greater confidence and intentionality instead of simply reacting to the day’s demands. As a result, you are able to better motivate others and lead with significantly less stress, creating a powerful ripple effect throughout your entire library.
Learning Objectives:
Define the 7 Levels of Library Leadership
Distinguish between leadership by design and leadership by default
Demonstrate practical examples of Energy Leadership™
Discuss strategies for cultivating positive self-awareness within yourself and others
CULTIVATING RESILIENCE (60 mins.)
As a library leader, it is essential to protect your own emotional and energetic capacity. As the saying goes, “You cannot pour from an empty cup.” In this workshop, you’ll learn research-based strategies to help you manage stress, address compassion fatigue, and protect against burnout.
Learning Objectives:
Distinguish between chronic stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout
Assess your values and how they align with your work
Explore how to set healthy boundaries around your time, energy, and focus
Discuss practices that promote self-compassion within yourself and others
